A gas leak was reported on May 25 about 3:45 p.m. at Klamath Hall on the University of Oregon campus. The leak was contained and an “all-clear” given to re-occupy buildings at 4:16 p.m.

A UOAlert! emergency notification was immediately sent out to UO students and employees regarding the leak, and people were told to stay away from the area. Klamath Hall and the Science Library were evacuated.

The leak was in the basement of Klamath Hall. Eugene/Springfield Fire Department and Northwest Natural Gas responded to safely contain the leak, which was related to a piece of construction equipment. Reportedly, no gas lines were broken.

Emergency response to the leak briefly reduced eastbound traffic on Franklin Boulevard to one lane.
