UO Alert 2017-12-05

The University of Oregon issued a UO Alert on Tuesday, December 5 at 11:19 a.m., warning people to stay clear of law enforcement activity near 24th Avenue and Amazon Street in southeast Eugene. An “all clear” message stating that the situation had been resolved was sent at 11:30 a.m.

Eugene Police were involved with a situation with a possible weapon at a private residence that was near the UO-operated Spencer View apartment complex.

UPDATE 2017-12-05 12:00 p.m.: Eugene Police issued the following information following the incident:

Police Respond to E. 25th Regarding Information of an Armed Subject

This morning at approximately 10:41 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of E. 25th Avenue regarding an armed subject. Police located the described subject near First Place Family Shelter, and observed him in possession of an axe.

The subject was contacted by police and taken into custody on a non criminal hold and transported to the hospital.

South Eugene High School and Roosevelt Middle School were temporary placed on lockout and traffic was rerouted in the area of 24th and 19th Avenue for a short period of time during the incident.
