University of Oregon Police and Eugene Springfield Fire/EMS responded to Global Scholars Hall for a single individual medical emergency, around 10:30 a.m. on May 16, 2019. The person was transported to PeaceHealth Riverbend Hospital.

An instructor in a front classroom at GSH had students leave the building when police and fire arrived, but there was no formal evacuation of the hall by police, fire, or University Housing. The residence hall is safe and secure. The family of the person with the medical emergency has been notified.
