UO Alert Eugene: Resources available update 1/26/24

  • The Student Rec Center is open regular hours. SRC is open to all UO community members for showers while power outages continue. Employees and their families are welcome to use shower facilities through closing, Sunday, Jan. 28 (members and non-members).
    • Bring your UO ID.
    • Employees need to accompany family members.
    • Showers are free, but if you are not an SRC member, you will need to purchase a day pass if you’d like to use the exercise facilities.
  • A winter weather impact map shows hazard areas. Campus clean up continues. Stay clear of areas marked with caution tape.
  • The EMU is open to all to warm up and for electricity.

Off Campus

  • LTD service is on regular schedule.
  • Duck Rides evening shuttle is available.

Student Care

  • If you live off campus and are without power/heat, the Rec Center, EMU, libraries, and dining halls are good options for warmth and electricity. The Eugene Library and other community warming centers may also be available.
  • The Basic Needs website has several pages of information, around housing, food, and finances. Please submit a basic needs assistance form order for a staff member to reach out to you and discuss your specific needs: https://basicneeds.uoregon.edu/services-students
  • If the inclement weather has had a significant impact on you financially, you may be eligible for reimbursement from the UO Students in Crisis Fund. Funds are limited and offered on a one-time basis should the financial impact impede on your academic success.

On Campus  

  • Housing Residential Dining facilities are open regular hours. UO community members (faculty, staff, and students) who live off campus are welcome to purchase meals.            
  • The Student Rec Center is open regular hours. SRC is open to all UO community members for showers while power outages continue. Employees and their families are welcome to use shower facilities through closing, Friday, Jan. 26 (members and non-members).

  • The EMU is open to all to warm up and for electricity. Food vendors schedules may vary based on staffing.  
  • A bottle filling station is available in front of Straub Hall, west side of the building. Those needing drinkable water should bring a container. 
  • Garbage pickup is on regular schedule to most buildings.  
  • A winter weather impact map shows hazard areasStay clear of areas marked with caution tape. Avoid trees and tree covered routes. Beware of downed or falling trees, limbs and powerlines.  
  • Campus childcare services are open.   

Off Campus                      

  • New! City of Springfield Community Resource Center open Monday 1/22  at Springfield City Hall.
  • Many trees have fallen throughout the area. Roads and sidewalks are clearing, but ice continues to be an issue in spots and higher elevations.  
  • Some traffic lights are out because of power outages. Treat them as a four way stop. Use your best judgement to travel safely. Check TripCheck.com for road conditions throughout Oregon.

UO Alert Portland: Closed, 1/19/24

UO Portland campuses will be closed on Friday, January 19th, due to weather and road conditions. Classes may be conducted virtually. All other events are cancelled.

Instructors who plan to teach remotely should communicate class information to their students.
