UO Alert Law Enforcement Activity: All Clear

UO-Header-p62azs.jpg

The law enforcement activity by Eugene Police in the area of 14th/15th avenues and Mill/High streets is all clear. Residents can resume normal activity.

Eugene Police took a suspect into custody the evening of September 25 in the area. The 17-year old was a suspect in a shooting earlier in the day on Bailey Lane in northeast Eugene.

Eugene Police used SWAT and crisis negotiation teams to make contact with the suspect in the neighborhood just south of downtown Eugene and several blocks west of campus. Eugene Police also used a reverse 911 call to alert local residents to the police activity, and the University of Oregon issued a UO Alert to the campus community warning people to stay away from the affected area.

This is a Eugene Police investigation and the department is sharing information as available with local media. The UO will not have further information on the situation.
