An oil sheen has been observed on the Mill Race by the Millrace Drive on April 12, 2023. The source has been determined to be a spill at an off-campus fueling station East of campus. The City of Eugene has been notified and is currently working with the site to contain the spill and clean up the resultant contamination. Booms have been placed across the Mill Race upstream of campus to minimize the spread of contamination. A slight sheen or fuel odor may persist in the vicinity of the Mill Race on campus as this issue is addressed throughout the day. UO EHS is involved and is tracking this issue.
